Build Queue Planning – broken by BWE3 influence changes

Update

This was based on the influence benefits available in BWE 1 & 2. However, many of the referenced benefits are no longer available (for example, the 5% xp for 3 days boost was nerfed to 1 day, AND moved to Economy Level 3 = minimum of 6500 influence and 112hrs building Economy before we could start building the first of these…and the xp boost still takes 24hrs to build). As such, these plans have been completely broken.

Introduction

This post is to provide a place to co-ordinate the plans for the order in which to build Guild upgrades when GW2 launches.

How Guild options work: A discussion of how the Guild Interface works, including things like ranks, representing a guild, etc. Specific tips:

  • If you create a new character, while they are automatically a member of the guild they do not automatically start “representing” the guild (gaining influence points) – you need to select to represent the guild in the interface for that character first.
  • If you promote a member to the SAME rank as what you are, you cannot change their rank again. There’s no confirmation of the promotion, so be careful of mouse-slips ;).
  • Guild boosts such as “+5% xp for 1 day” can be built and collected, to be activated at a later date. This means that we can pre-plan boosts for times like weekends and then activate a bunch at once (e.g. xp+influence+pvp+…) when the majority of people are available to play (and we can have multiples stored, so that we could have stuff prebuilt for “1xSat + 1xSun”).

  • +5% influence for 24h (50 pts, 24h) & +5% xp for 3 days (200 pts, 24h)
  • +5% influence for 24h (50 pts, 24h) & Politics lvl 2 (1000 pts, 24h)
  • +5% influence for 24h (50 pts, 24h) & +5% xp for 3 days (200 pts, 24h)
  • +5% influence for 24h (50 pts, 24h) & Politics lvl 3 (5000 pts, 72h)

Notes

  • Is the Politics level 3 item “Contract Asuran Outsourcing” a one-use, or does it effectively give a third build slot? I’m assuming a 3rd slot at this point.
  • Speeding up a build reduces the time by 25% of original, at a cost of 2.5 times the original price. Therefore, speeding up a 50pt 24h build (reducing the queue by 6h for 250 pts) is far more cost effective than speeding up a 500pt 16 hour build (reducing the queue by 4h for 1250 pts) in terms of influence costs vs time availability. So for things like the first xp boost – speed the xp boost build at 500pts/6h rather than the previous unlock at 1250pts/4h, because you can knock 12h of build time out for less than the cost of 4h!
  • Current aim is to unlock xp boost asap, then extra slots, then extra influence and getting better boosts. That can and likely will change based on ANY feedback from guild members – for example if people want to PVP we’ll unlock the Art of War stuff sooner than in the timeline above, etc.
