As you may have noticed, there currently isn’t much by way of proposed guild names that at least one quarter of the guild members have said that they could not live with.
As I see it, we have three choices:
- People propose some alternatives that they could live with, or
- People compromise on names, or
- We split the guild in half.
The voting seems split between:
- People wanting roleplay names
- People wanting funny names
- People who feel funny tags should only be used with funny names and never with roleplay names (which eliminates any middle ground between the other two groups) .
I can’t see any way to resolve that without having at least one quarter of the guild wanting to quit, so I am throwing this back on the members. If the existing proposals are not tolerable, what could you live with?
I completely undestand your frustrasion and if people are thinkg of leaving just because of the guild name thats quite sad but the best solution I can see if we cant agree on a name using the terms you laid out befor is just to stick with AUS Serenity. Its a perfectly fine name that everyone has already lived with for a while and can live with to longer.

That is in effect what people are saying when they say they hate everything – and I agree that it is quite sad. If that is not the case, they may need to revise their choices by asking “could I live with this? yes=yellow, no=red”. If it is the case, then they should propose some alternatives that they don’t hate so we can find something acceptable.
So far, only 1/3 of the guild has actually made any suggestions…and based on the current voting we’ve obviously not hit “the right spot” when it comes to them.
I’m intending to close the ability to add new names to the list on Wed evening, to give people 2 days to vote on the completed list and know that they haven’t missed anything. So get your suggestions in over the next couple of days.
I agree with Tim – it’s getting a bit silly, and while I feel a vast number of the choices are better than AUS Serenity, if they’re going to cop that level of “hates” and AUS Serenity is currently the highest ranked with full voters and has been acceptable up until now, lets just stick with it. It’ll be nice identifying ourselves as an Australian guild too.. We’ll see what the next couple of days brings, but if there’s no clear winner, or if it’s causing too much headaches – my vote is just to stick with what we’ve got and get on with the important stuff, you know, cooking centaurs.
We could create a short list after the deadline that people could rank 1-8 and have points accordingly (in that each person only gets 1 1- their favourite and 1 8 – most despised) that way we wont, only include the ones that have 90% guild members voting on them and perhaps bring the hate exit bar up to 4? just brainstorming here… perhaps determine how much people actually like or dislike.
even perhaps make a 9 so people can list their top 7 and 1 “dealbreaker” see if we can get any names that people dont want to leave over…

We don’t have a general thread – though I would have put voting specific stuff on the voting page. That said, it’s getting so long that I don’t think people are reading it anymore. It doesn’t really matter where it goes – just putting it out there means we can discuss it :).

I take it the list above is what you’re expecting the list of top names will be, rather than your personal preferences?
Yeah Just what i was expecting based on high voting interest, less than 30% hates etc…
